"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."

                                    -Albert Einstein

The FEDS (Falcon Engineering Design Solutions) aim to operate as a high-functioning level team within FIRST robotics competitions (FRC) as well as demonstrate gracious professionalism and proper safety proceedures. We hope to be able to have an incredible FIRST experience while learning and teaching the fundamentals in teamwork, problem solving, and engineering.

In recent years some key goals that we have had in order to achieve our mission include:

Keeping on track with our personal schedule we have created with the help of mentor Alan Wareham

Comminicating Effectively between sub-teams and as teammates.

Creating two robots during our build season. A final product to compete with at competitions and another, a prototype for our drive team to continue practicing with after the robot is bagged.

Having full-team meetings before we start and before we leave each day/night we gather. This requires us to be on time.

Keeping design simple, but not sacrificing the complexity required to accomplish all the tasks in the game FIRST designs. Basically, not overcomplicating things , but rather evaluating our progress and ability as we go and maintaining order.

Getting Results. Our mentors will teach us everything we need to know to go as far as we are willing to go. We aim to be among the best.

Safety. Particularly in recent years, safety has become a focus for our team. It is one of the many ways we reach out to other teams at competitions.

  What We Do

Falcon Engineering and Design Solution (FEDS), Team 201, is a FIRST Robotics team based out of Rochester High School in Rochester Hills, MI. The team is comprised of a combination of high school students, mentors, parent volunteers and a teacher sponsor.

The goal of the team is to educate its members about the values of engineering, teamwork, and gracious professionalism. We do this by participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition in which we design, build and compete with a robot we build over a six week build season. The team also uses a variety of community events in order to educate students and other interested parties.

Every year the team competes at a variety of competitions around Michigan as well as the national championships. In 2010 FEDS 201 competed at two Michigan district events, the Michigan State Championship, and the World Championships in Atlanta, GA. FEDS 201 consistently display a high level of excellence on and off the field.

During the months of the year that the team is not competing, we are active in our community through a variety of events such as local parades, the Relay for Life and demonstrations at local schools. The FEDS have had an overwhelming amount of support from our community leaders over the past few years.
