What sub-team do you mentor for?
I’m responsible for our project planning and scheduling. I work with all the sub-teams as we track
progress against our schedule. I also work with the mechanical build team.
What do you do for a living?
I’m a program manager for HP. I work in our global tools and automation group where we develop and
distribute network engineering tools and processes.
How many years have you mentored?
This is my 2nd year as a mentor.
What is your favorite robotics memory?
I won’t forget the competition at Kettering University in 2010. That was my first time watching one.
It was so totally NOT what I expected. I’m not really sure what I expected but Kettering wasn’t it. It
was loud, colorful, energetic, stressful, exciting, fun, chaotic…pick your adjective, that was it. And each
competition got bigger and better from there.
What is your favorite part of robotics?
I love to see the realization on a student’s face when a new concept has just clicked and they
understand. I enjoy watching kids doing things they previously wouldn’t even have considered trying.
I’m impressed with the camaraderie I see on the team. That’s three things…but they’re all cool.
If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
I’d be a falcon, of course. Being associated with Rochester High School what else would I be?
Favorite Oreo?
Double Stuff Oreos, especially on Fridays.
